Wooden chandelier

A wooden chandelier made from indian rosewood and brass light fixtures.

I decided to build this chandelier after coming across a beautiful piece of indian rosewood at a local lumberyard. It features a total of 14 vintage "Edison" style LED bulbs. The chandelier is suspended from the ceiling by 4 steel hooks.

Sanding the milled wood

The milled wood was rough cut, so I had to sand it down to a smooth finish. I started with a 40 grit sandpaper on an angle grinder, and worked my way up to 320 grit sandpaper on a random orbital sander. It was amazing to see the beautiful grain of the wood come to life as I sanded it down.

Wiring the LED lights

I wired the LED lights in parallel, so that if one light goes out, the others will stay on. To maintain the vintage look of the chandelier, I used a twisted cloth covered wire. I put the wire through a rounded oak dowel to add some visual interest to the chandelier.
